Our History
Shri 1008 Mahavir Digambar Jain Temple, HAL Airport Road, Bengaluru is a highly revered and sacred spiritual sanctuary. This holy shrine stands not only as a profound symbol of faith for the Digambar Jain community but also serves as the primary spiritual and social anchor for Jain families residing across Eastern Bengaluru, including Indiranagar, Domlur, Marathahalli, and Whitefield.
The development and expansion of this modern temple complex progressed alongside the establishment and growth of the nearby Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) township. As Jain families began settling in the region, the temple naturally evolved into a central spiritual pillar. Historically, the eastern corridor of Bengaluru has been a prominent stronghold of Jain culture since the ancient Ganga Dynasty. This temple gracefully carries that deep-rooted religious heritage forward into the modern era with utmost devotion.
Deities & Architecture
Enshrined in the main Garbhagriha (sanctum sanctorum) is the serene, padmasana-postured Digambar idol of Lord Mahavir Swami, the 24th Tirthankara of Jainism and the messiah of peace. A mere glimpse of the deity fills the heart with infinite tranquility.
The temple complex features a dedicated shrine for the Shasan Devi, Mata Padmavati Ji, where devotees gather with immense faith and prayers.
Spread across two floors, this spacious temple is widely recognized for its simplicity, immaculate cleanliness, and excellent management. The peaceful ambiance provides an ideal setting for the daily morning sacred Jin-Abhishek, Pujan, and the melodious evening Maha Aarti.
Our Vision & Activities
Our core vision is to propagate Lord Mahavir’s timeless teachings of Ahimsa (non-violence) and “Live and Let Live” to all of humanity. Moving beyond daily rituals, the temple functions as a center for nurturing moral and spiritual values within society.
Weekly classes are conducted regularly to introduce children to the foundational principles, ethics, and cultural values of Jainism.
Regular scriptural studies (Swadhyay), spiritual discourses, and lectures by learned scholars are organized for adults and senior citizens.
Major Jain festivals—including Das Lakshana Parva (Paryushan), Mahavir Jayanti, and Moksha Kalyanak (Deepavali)—are celebrated with grand enthusiasm through collective community participation.
